Description of Lentinus edodes (Shiitake):
Lentinula edodes, shiitake called or shiitake and Valentin as oak, is an edible mushroom that grows in the Far East on the wood of various deciduous trees, and derives its name from shii tree (Castanopsis cuspidata synonyms: Pasania c., Shiia sieboldi) who is his host history. The latter is a majestic tree with tiny leaves, the family Fagaceae, nearby oak and chestnut (Castanopsis meaning "false chestnut").

Properties / Effects / Hint:
In Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese - to stimulate the immune system. Reduce cholesterol. Slow the aging process. Fight cancer.

Prudence
In rare cases, regular consumption of Shiitake can cause an abnormal increase in immune reactions that can lead to allergic disorders (called eosinophilia).

Contraindications

- Occasionally, gastrointestinal ailments.
- In some people, consumption of shiitake (especially raw) can cause skin reactions known as dermatitis or flagellar Shiitake dermatitis. You should stop treatment.

Interactions
Theoretically, the effects of shiitake could be added to those drugs, plants or supplements that lower cholesterol levels and those that strengthen the immune system.
