Prudence
* The safe use of hypericum in pregnant women is not established beyond a reasonable doubt. In lactating women, it seems safe.

Contraindications
* People with Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder.

Adverse
* Rare and generally mild: mild digestive disorders, skin allergies, fatigue, nervousness, headaches and dry mouth. At high dose (3600 mg daily), St. John's Wort may cause photosensitivity in people with fair skin and those who receive treatment with ultraviolet light.

Interactions With
drugs
* St. John's wort may have dangerous interactions with several medications such as antidepressants (Paxil, Zoloft, etc..) And migraine (sumatriptan, Imitrex, etc..).
* St. John's wort may decrease the effectiveness of many drugs such as oral contraceptives, immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, Sandimmune, etc..), Anticoagulants (warfarin, Coumadin, etc..), Statins (simvastatin, Zocor, etc..) And anti-asthmatics (Fexofenadine, Allegra, etc.)..
